About Me

Why this blog? I've had health issues a long time, best fitting post-infectious chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and depression/anxiety. Unfortunately the medical system and many health practitioners have largely been unable to help me (and even made things worse), so I've had to help myself. Over time I've become broadly interested in health and disease, particularly common mechanisms and ultimate causes, which may inform prevention and cure; as well as 'big picture' ecology. I read lots of research looking for answers (to my curiosity and ideas) and this blog just serves to share some of my initial exploration and learning as mini-reviews (or 'concise drafts' awaiting expansion to full articles).

Please note: I'm not a scientist or doctor; I don't have any higher scientific education or qualifications; and nothing on here is peer-reviewed! I try to speak/write through the science (from peer-reviewed biomedical journals) and cite my sources, although much is preliminary research. I also try to be rigorous and balanced, but ultimately I'm just one human, who's still learning, and has additional health/energy limitations, so there may be oversights. Please read the research yourself and/or consider more authoritative perspectives, and where possible, official guidelines.
